Last year, Hear Art secured its first funding which left me considering the best way how to use the funds effectively. I wanted to create something impactful that fulfilled our mission and attracted support for Hear Art's growth. After observing the hype around podcasts, this sparked the idea for me to create a video podcast focusing on the deaf community. I knew it could be something special with a great deaf team on board. My first challenge as the producer was finding a deaf director who shared my vision. A mutual friend introduced me to Sam Arnold, who was eager to transition from 1st AD to directing. After discussing the project over lunch, I loved his enthusiasm and felt confident in his ability to bring the podcast to life.

I envisioned a unique video podcast that could engage both deaf and hearing audiences while fulfilling our commitments to our funder. Hear Art’s mission is to create employment and creative opportunities for the deaf community in the arts and entertainment sectors. The podcast features a deaf professional discussing their career and challenges navigating a hearing world, in conversation with a high-profile industry figure. The goal is to inspire conversations on improving employment and training for deaf individuals and encourage greater workplace accessibility. When I shared this concept with Sam, he was enthusiastic and we spent five months collaboratively developing the structure and selecting our deaf and hearing guests and crew for the first series which we decided to call 'Shaping Tomorrow'.

We are excited to announce our first press release which you can read here: Podcasting Today

This production would not have been possible without the support of those who believed in the idea.

Davide Lorente, founder of Tooting Film Studios. His trust and backing were crucial in securing a welcoming studio space for our deaf guest and crew.

Tom and Fiona at Sundae Communications who saw the potential of the podcast and helped us garner press attention.

Our deaf and hearing guests who kindly donated their time to be part of our podcast.

Most of the our production team who worked hard and gave their best!
